ART ACQUISITION FUND TO BE CONTINUED

Funding by the Rasmuson Foundation for museums to purchase works of contemporary Alaska art continues in 2008 for a total to be distributed this year of $215,000.

The 2007 cycle of the Art Acquisition Fund is complete. As of the end of December, applications from 19 museums have been funded so that they could purchase 92 works of contemporary Alaska art representing 74 Alaska artists. Overall, to date, the five-year-old program has distributed nearly $1.1 million, enabling museums to purchase 419 works of art representing more than 200 Alaska artists.

The application deadline for 2008 is November 21.
