2024 Conference

The number of in-person conference attendees depends on the city the conference is hosted in, but it can range from 40-100 attendees.

Host organization responsibilities:

• Designate at least one person to coordinate with MA on the conference committee;
  
• Identify and help plan the Angels Project;
• Identify and reserve meeting locations as needed;
  
• Arrange discount codes for local accommodations and airline travel where possible;
  
• Provide local museum facilities at no cost for whatever receptions, banquet, luncheon, and evening events are planned there — wherever possible;
  
• Make arrangements for transportation of conference attendees to events as necessary; 
  
• Assist in organizing pre- and post-conference activities with local vendors as necessary;
  
• Assist with solicitation of local sponsors, exhibitors, and vendors. 
  
• Organize local speakers for a welcome address at the opening reception;
  
• Assist with setting-up meeting venues for sessions and workshops;
  
• Assist in locating necessary technology like projectors and screens as needed.
  
• Assist with set-up of the vendor and sponsor tables;
  
• Assist in coordinating conference volunteers and staffing of the registration table during the conference.
  

Museums Alaska responsibilities:

• Manages the financials — fundraising, registrations, refunds, honorariums, invoices, etc.
  
• Manages the conference committee
• Creates the conference schedule with the conference committee
• Solicits and manages the speakers and awards
  
• Manages all conference communications
  
• Manages conference swag
  
• Manages the conference
  
• Manages reporting
  

Conference profits, if there are any, are split 40% to the Host Museum or Cultural Center, and 60% to Museums Alaska.
